Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center Receives Grant from The Children’s Guild Foundation

Buffalo, NY – November 12, 2010 – The Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center(BTRC) of Buffalo, NY, is proud to announce that they have received a grant in the amount of $4,000 from The Children's Guild Foundation, Inc. who is based in Buffalo, New York. BTRC provides a safe, relaxing and non-academic environment for children with physical and mental disabilities to interact with horses, volunteers and peers. The main goal for this grant was for the funds to be used for the purchase of adaptive equipment in the therapeutic riding program.

BTRC is a North American Riding for the Handicapped (NAHRA) Premier Center, which is the highest level of certification available to charities providing therapeutic riding to individuals with disabilities. The funding from this generous grant was used to purchase equipment, including therapeutic saddle pads and liners, reins and accessories. Some of the funds were also used to purchase therapeutic instructional aids including colored cones, rings, buckets and assorted balls for both riders and horses at BTRC.

Susie Schoelkopf, Executive Director of the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center, commented on the The Children's Guild Foundation’s generosity, explaining, “We’ve had an amazing partnership with them from the beginning. They have been fabulous are we are so appreciative of everything they do for us!”

“They have truly believe in us since the beginning,” Schoelkopf continued. “Their support means the world to us and they really help us with our needs so that we can continue our success here at BRTC with these kids.”

The Children's Guild Foundation is dedicated, through funding support and advocacy programs, to improving the lives of children with special needs.

The Children's Guild Foundation mission is to advocate and sponsor. They do not provide hands-on program, but financially support those who do, by forming a partnership within the community with healthcare professionals, medical researchers, special needs teachers and program experts dedicated to meeting the on-going challenges of conditions that afflict children with special needs and impact their families.
